Bright Eyes Sprung A Leak

OK, I can't give you tracks just yet, and I won't tell you where and how I got it, but Bright Eyes' new album Cassadaga leaked this morning and I have it. I've only heard maybe three songs so far and in large part I like what I hear. I'm gonna be playing the full album on my radio show this afternoon from 4-6PM, so if you wanna hear it before you buy it/download it, now's the time to do it.

Snow Patrol gets the Spider-Man single

The soundtracks to the Spider-Man film franchise have been awesome so far, and they've each yielded a single or two. The first one had "Hero" by Chad Kroeger (Nickelback) and Josey Scott (Saliva), as well as "What We're All About" by Sum 41. The 2004 sequel saw the emergence of Dashboard Confessional with "Vindicated". AOL Music just announced that Snow Patrol will get the leadoff slot for Spider-Man 3, due out May 4th, with its new song "Signal Fire". The soundtrack is due out May 1st, according to amazon. No word yet on a video for "Signal Fire", but its a safe bet one's in the pipeline. Meantime here's the track and album artwork. Personally I think the song is alright, but it doesn't hold a candle to either "Vindicated" or "Hero"

Take Me Out to the Ball Game...

Idolator brought me this story, and being both a music and a baseball fan, it was too good to let pass:

The New York Mets are holding an online contest that will allow fans to pick third baseman David Wright's entrance music. The choices are varied, with everything from Cassie's "Me & U" to Nas' "New York State of Mind" (not to be confused with the Billy Joel version) to Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" and My Chemical Romance's "Welcome to the Black Parade". If I were to vote (which I haven't yet), I'd probably go with The Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again", but the fans should reserve the right, should Wright go into a slump in the playoffs again, to switch the music to Fall Out Boy's "Sugar, We're Goin' Down". But this idea got me thinking about what songs other players should take the field to.

Player: Julio Franco (NYM)
Song: Bill Haley and His Comets - "Rock Around the Clock"
This song was a number one hit in Franco's rookie season.

Player: Brett Myers (PHI)
Song: The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus - "Face Down"
Wife-beater jokes never get old.

Player: Barry Bonds (SF)
Song: Milli Vanilli - "Blame it On The Rain"
Cheaters have to stick together

Player: Alex Rodriguez (NYY)
Song: My Chemical Romance - "Welcome to the Black Parade" (link above)
A song about cancer is much more appropriate here than it is for Wright.

Player: Ugueth Urbina
Song: Bob Marley - I Shot the Sheriff
This assumes Urbina makes it out of prison before season's end (Ugey is in a Venezuelan prison on an attempted murder charge)

OK I think the joke's just about run dry. I'll be back later.

One Moooorrrre Thing!

Forgot to mention something in the update earlier, so I'm going back and fixing it now. On the left there's a link to The Sean and Kelley Show. Sean Dolan and Kelley Glenn are DJs at Arcadia's radio station. This Friday from 8-10PM (their usual show slot), Sean and Kelley are gonna have a live in-studio performance featuring some on-campus singer/songwriters. I don't have the list of names with me, but if you go to their website you can get all the details. Oh yeah, there's free pizza too, so go ahead and check it out.

PS A thousand points to whoever guesses the show from whence the title of this blog originates.

What's That Coming Over The Hill, Is It A Monster?

I owe you guys an update seeings how I was in London for a week, so let's get started:

-I may or may not have written about a Scottish band called The Automatic on this blog. I've been playing their song "Monster" on my radio show (which you had all better listen to) pretty frequently. Their debut album entitled Not Accepted Anywhere is an up-and-comer in England, but we Americans no very little about the band, as the album is not yet available. This, however, will soon change. In a report courtesy of NME, Not Accepted Anywhere will be released stateside on June 26. The release will coincide with The Automatic's appearance on the Van's Warped Tour. The band won't be playing in Philly anytime soon, but to keep you amused till then, I can offer you "Monster" and their much sought after cover of Kanye West's "Golddigger"

In other British band news, The Horrors, another not-yet-known group here in the states, were involved in an altercation at a bar in Allston, MA, and were forced to end their set early. The Boston Herald reported that frontman Faris Badwan smashed a bust of Elvis on the floor during their set. Badwan alleges that a doorman was rude to him and a fan and spat in his face prior to the set. Later this week I'm gonna get my friend Danielle Reicherter, who knows the band and has a very...unique...perspective on this story to offer her account.

Lastly, in a followup to my last post, the first 30 seconds of the new Linkin Park single are playing when you first go to the band's website. The clip was available for download after approximately 8 nanoseconds, and images of the band's new logo are also online here. The new album entitled Minutes to Midnight hits stores May 15th, and the single "What I've Done" will be released on April 2nd.
Intro to "What I've Done"

That's all. I'll be back later this week, I promise.

Linkin Park toys with fans and Axl's being Axl

Current Music: 30 Seconds to Mars - From Yesterday

Following up on the previous entry, amazon.com's UK site currently has September 17th listed as the release date for Chinese Democracy, which would translate to September 18th here in America. A new logo/potential album cover has found its way onto the net:

Looks to me like its done in the same typeface as one of the early Linkin Park logos:

You decide.

While on the subject of LP, the band says we can expect the first single sometime this month. numerous reports place the release of their fourth album anywhere between April and summertime. For what it's worth, Best Buy's website lists a May 1st release date AND suggests an "EXPLICIT LYRICS" label. Is Linkin Park gonna get dirty on us?

New links on the left; both mp3 blogs that deal in mainstream music. I tend to like Idolator more 'cause it's on a national scale, whereas Music Slut appears largely based out of New York.

I've got more in me, but I'm gonna hold out till tomorrow or Monday when I'm back on campus. Oh yeah, thanks to Heartless Bastard for the link that produced the "Better" rip last entry.
